EMS-Tech Inc. wins another self-unloading contract for two new Great Lakes EQUINOX Class 650 gravity type Self-unloading systems
On June 23rd 2015, EMS-Tech signed a contract with 3 MAJ Brodogradiliste d.d. of Rijeka, Croatia, a subsidiary of the Uljanik d.d. Group, for the design and supply of two high capacity gravity self-unloading systems. Vessel owner, Algoma Central Corporation, is expanding its existing fleet and expects to take delivery of their EQUINOX 650 newbuild vessels in 2017.
The self-unloading system will be designed to discharge aggregate and salt at a rate of 5,450t/h and will be comprised of two tunnel conveyors fitted with EMS-Tech patented feeder gates, a 21 meter lift ‘C’ Loop conveyor, and an 80 meter long discharge boom.
EMS-Tech self-unloading systems are now featured on upwards of 75 vessels, a number of which have been successfully operating on the Great Lakes for almost 20 years. Many of those systems are owned and operated by Algoma Central Corp. EMS-Tech is thrilled to be working with 3 MAJ Shipyard and looks forward to successfully delivering these newbuild EQUINOX Class vessels to Algoma Central Corp.
