SUBJECT: COVID-19 Essential Service Announcement

To Our Valued Customers and Partners: 

We would like to take the opportunity to share with you an update regarding EMS-Tech Inc. operations.  On Monday March 23, 2020 the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford ordered the closure of all non-essential workplaces in Ontario amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.  The order is to take effect Tuesday March 24, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. and will be in place for at least 14 days.  This decision by our provincial government was made in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus.  However, essential businesses and those that supply and service those businesses are exempt. 

As a valued customer and partner, we want to inform you that EMS-Tech Inc. is an essential business. Our facilities will remain open and the services we provide as an engineering firm and supplier of essential goods/services to our clientele are ongoing.  While our in office staff will be significantly reduced, and we do expect some delays to occur because of this situation, we are doing everything within our power to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 on your business and, subsequently, limit any disruption to the productivity of the end users whom you support. 

Below are some of the things that we are doing to remain connected with our customers during this challenging period.

  • Our Head Office in Belleville will remain open with a reduced staff covering all major functions of our business.
  • Our work from home staff will be addressing e-mails, taking phone calls, and engaging in our engineering services i.e. drawings, requisitions, reviews and project supports to the best of their ability while being remote.
  • Our China office in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province will remain open and the staff there will continue to address quality control for equipment supply, project leadership and commissioning activities as needed. 
  • Our Sales, Leadership and Management Team will remain available to address any questions you might have with regards to timelines, safety, and general customer support activities.
  • Our Project Managers will be continuously updating clients on project deliverables across all functions.  These updates will be delivered more frequently to ensure continuity amongst our groups. 
  • While travel restrictions are in place for our staff, our Senior Field Advisor will be available on a 24/7 phoneline to address any technical inquiries or facilitate the appropriate person to respond to your needs remotely.
  • In case of emergency (i.e. an end-user is shutdown or in need of technical assistance), our Management Team will review and determine appropriate action, with a quick turnaround.  This could include travel to site in some cases and where permitted.       
  • Our Procurement and Logistics Team are processing orders and closely monitoring any possible interruptions from our suppliers.

To assist in making things seamless for you, our head office line is available between our normal hours of 8am to 5pm Eastern daylight time, Monday to Friday to handle your inquiries as needed.

SUBJECT: COVID-19 Update No. 1

Dear Valued Customers and Partners,

Given the recent events surrounding the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) EMS-Tech wanted to take this opportunity to communicate the actions that we are taking in response to this unprecedented outbreak.  As we have all witnessed, the conditions surrounding public health concerns have changed dramatically over a short period of time, and will continue to do so, for the foreseeable future.  While all of us are facing challenges with school closures, travel restrictions, self-isolation requirements, and shortages in our everyday supplies, please know that EMS-Tech Inc. is committed to the safety of our employees, the community we live and work in, as well as the continuity of our business relationships with you, our business partners.

EMS-Tech Inc. actions are based on science and recommendations of local public health professionals; these recommendations along with our own precautions have assisted in guiding us to date.  We are fortunate that much of our work is electronic in nature, and we have the tools established to keep communications seamless for the time being.  All engineering, design, and project execution takes place at our Headquarters in Belleville, ON, Canada and this work continues as we transition into a new working life.  Our operation in Wuxi (in the province of Jiangsu, China) is fully functioning in compliance with rules and requirements imposed by local, state and federal authorities.  Our staff in China continues to address project related deliveries and quality control functions that take place there.  Our Business Development office in Australia is closely following the same practices that are in place in Canada.      

These are some of the significant actions that we have taken:

  • Our Management Team, consisting of individuals from all functional areas, is meeting daily to review our business stability plans, and to adjust as necessary.
  • Following Canadian government advisories, we have halted foreign business-related travel and are limiting domestic travel and visitors to our business locations.  While we don’t yet know how long these advisories will be in place, current airline suspensions persist until April 30th, 2020 at the earliest.     
  • Following Canadian government advisories, all employees outside of Canada have been brought home and will be required to follow self?isolation guidelines for 14 days before returning to the office.  During the self-isolation period, these employees are working from home.
  • We have implemented extensive and repetitive cleaning procedures in our office facilities and are limiting physical contact between employees while following recommended practice of social distancing.
  • Employees with pre-existing conditions are working remotely with the necessary tools to keep work efforts moving forward.  We are allowing flexible scheduling with our production employees and have enabled many administrative employees to work remotely.  
  • We have asked those that are concerned about health conditions to communicate openly with management and are asking those who are ill to stay home.
  • We are in regular contact with our equipment suppliers, logistics providers, and other critical sub-contractors, to monitor their continuity and are continually evaluating risks and recovery plans, when, or should the need arise.
